Wallet loyalty campaign ideas, with sample messages

Send a message straight to your customers’ wallet card: once, on a schedule, or automatically.

Every idea below comes with a message you can copy word for word, then reword so it sounds like you. These are the same starting points LoyalTea puts in the editor when you sign in.

What is a wallet campaign?

Your three options

One-time goes out once, either right away or at a time you pick. Recurring repeats on a schedule you set, daily, weekly or monthly. Automatic waits for something to happen to a customer, like getting close to a reward, and sends only to them.

What already runs by itself

LoyalTea sends one message for you, on every program: when a customer earns enough for a reward, their card tells them. It appears in your list marked “Set up for you” the first time someone earns one. You can reword it or pause it, but you cannot create it or move it to a different moment.

What your customer actually sees

Your words always appear on the card itself, and that part you control. The banner that pops up on the lock screen is a separate thing and not something to count on. On Android, Google writes that banner, not you.

Keep it short and put what matters first. A long message gets cut off on the lock screen, and the rest waits until they open the card.

Do not repeat your business name. It is already the title of the message.

What should I send?

They are grouped the way the product groups them, so what you read here is what you meet once you sign in.

Names, numbers and times fill in from your own program when you start from one of these.

One-time

Goes out to everyone the moment you press send.

  1. Something new

    Sample message
Something new just landed. Come take a look next time you’re in.
  2. Closed / hours change

    Sample message
We’re closed Monday and back Tuesday at 7am. Sorry for the short notice!
  3. Limited-time deal

    Sample message
48 hours only: 20% off your next visit. Just show your pass.
  4. Program update

    Sample message
A small update to how stamps work. Nothing you’ve earned is lost. Ask us in store.

Recurring

Goes out to everyone on a repeating schedule you choose.

  1. Quiet-hour boost

    Sample message
Wednesdays are our quietest. Drop in around 2:00 PM and skip the wait.
  2. Weekend push

    Sample message
The weekend’s here. Come see us, we’re saving you a spot.
  3. Staff pick of the week

    Sample message
This week’s pick is in. Ask us what we’re recommending.

Automatic

Goes out to one customer at a time, when they reach a moment you pick.

  1. Almost there

Sent once per customer, when they get within a few stamps of a reward you choose.

    Sample message
You’re 1 stamp away from your next reward: a free coffee. Come see us!
  2. Halfway there

Sent to anyone at or above the number you set, including customers who are already there when you turn it on. Each customer gets it once.

    Sample message
You’re over halfway to your next reward. A few more visits and it’s yours.
  3. We miss you

Sent when a customer hasn’t visited for the number of days you set.

    Sample message
It’s been a while. We’d love to see you back this week.
  4. Last call on an offer

Sent about 24 hours before any of your offers closes.

    Sample message
Last call! One of our offers ends tomorrow. Don’t miss it.
  5. A reward is ready

    Set up for you

Sent the moment a customer earns enough for a reward.

Example: “Your free coffee is ready. Show your pass at the counter.”

Nothing to set up. LoyalTea turns this one on for every program.

How often is too often?

Google allows three notifying messages per card per day, and LoyalTea budgets your sends to fit inside that. Campaigns you schedule also wait out your quiet hours, which you set in Settings. The automatic reward message is the exception: it follows a visit that just happened, so it goes out right away.

Worth knowing: going over the limit does not show you an error. The message is simply never delivered. Sending less often is what makes each one land.
